Old South Meeting House, a museum and National
Historic Landmark centrally located on Boston's Freedom Trail, welcomes student
groups. Come see the hall where the Boston Tea Party began, where Patriots
Samuel Adams and James Otis changed the fate of the nation.
All Old South Meeting House school programs meet
the Massachusetts Frameworks for History and Social Science and English/Language
Arts. Group rates are available for groups of ten (10) or more. Registration is
required for all groups and must be made three (3) weeks in advance for most
programs.

Tea is Brewing (One Hour
Program)
Experience the meeting that protested a tax… and sparked a Revolution with the
Boston Tea Party! Students bring this pivotal moment in history to life by
taking on the role of Patriots and Loyalists and reenacting the fiery tea tax
debate of December 16, 1773, in the very hall where it took place. Pre-visit
materials provided.
Grades: 3rd through 12th
Time: 1 Hour
Limit: Up to 40 students
Fees: $7.00 per student. Two (2) adults for every
ten (10) students are admitted free. Additional adults will be charged $7.00
each. One (1) adult is required for every ten (10) students.

Program)
Experience the meeting that protested a tax… and sparked a Revolution with the
Boston Tea Party! At historic Faneuil Hall, students are introduced to the
history of colonial town meetings. At Old South Meeting House, students
role-play as Patriots and Loyalists and recreate the fiery tea tax debates of 1773, in the very hall where
they took place. Pre-visit
materials provided.

Time: 2 Hours
Limit: Up to 40 students
Fees: $10.00 per student. Two (2) adults for every
ten (10) students are admitted free. Additional adults will be charged $10.00
each. One (1) adult is required for every ten (10) students.
Phillis Wheatley
Kidnapped from Africa and sold into slavery in Boston, Phillis Wheatley went on
to become the first African American to publish a book. Old South Meeting House
is the only surviving site associated with her life. In this interactive
program, students examine objects and primary source documents from Phillis
Wheatley’s remarkable life, and explore what it was like to be a slave in
colonial Boston. Students learn how colonial children were taught to write and
try their hand at writing with a quill pen as Phillis Wheatley did.
Grades: 5th through 8th
Time: 1.5 Hours
Limit: Up to 20 students
Fees: $7.00 per student. Two (2) adults for every
ten (10) students are admitted free. Additional adults will be charged $7.00
each. One (1) adult is required for every ten (10) students.

A Short Stop on the
Freedom Trail
Start your visit to Boston at Old South Meeting House, where the Boston Tea
Party began! After a brief, 15-minute introduction by a museum guide, your group
may move through the museum at its own pace. Groups of elementary or middle
school students may add a scavenger hunt to their visit to guide students
through the exhibit "Voices of Protest." A Short Stop on the Freedom Trail
talks can often be tailored to your group's interest upon request at the time of
booking.

Limit: Up to 60 participants for talk only

$3.00 per student. Two (2) adults for every ten (10) students are

hunt: Available for groups up to 25 participants. $4.00 per
student. Two (2) adults for every ten (10) students are admitted free.

Self-Guided Visit to
the Meeting House
Discover the history and beauty of Old South Meeting House with a self-guided
visit. Explore the restored National Historic Landmark and view the exhibit
"Voices of Protest" on your own and at your own pace.
